Establishment of Diplomatic Relations with the Republic of San Marino

- San Marino is an Independent State near Central Italy and is one of the wealthiest countries in Europe. It is a leading banking and financial centre and a popular tourist destination. There is potential for Sri Lanka to promote tourism and to export apparel and ceramic ware to San Marino. The Government of the Republic of San Marino has expressed its wish to establish Diplomatic Relations with Sri Lanka in order to enhance the friendship and cooperation between the two countries. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Neomal Perera, Acting Minister of External Affairs, to establish Diplomatic Relations between Sri Lanka and San Marino, was approved by the Cabinet.
