Prison Relocation Programme - Pallekelle

- Bogambara Prison situated in the heart of Kandy town occupies an extent of 5.8 hectares of land. With the view to releasing lands with commercial value for development activities of Kandy town and minimizing the congestion in the Prison, the Bogambara Prison is to be relocated at Pallekelle. Stage I of the project has been completed at a cost of Rs.418 million. The proposal made by Hon. Chandrasiri Gajadeera, Minister of Rehabilitation and Prison Reforms, to proceed with the work relating to Stage II of the project, was approved by the Cabinet.
