Awarding the contract of conducting Pre-feasibility Studies for the preparation of a new Railroad Plan through Embilipitiya, Moneragala, Kataragama, Ampara, Batticaloa areas covering of the South Eastern areas of the Island, to the Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau (CECB)

- the proposal made Hon. Kumara Welgama, Minister of Transport, to award the contract of conducting the pre-feasibility study for the construction of a new rail road from Embilipitiya to Batticaloa via Moneragala and Ampara and for the construction of a new rail road from Kataragama to Moneragala, to the Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau (CECB) which is a government concern, was approved by the Cabinet.
