Commercialization of Titanium Dioxide (TiO2)

- the Sri Lanka Institute of Nanotechnology Pvt. Limited (SLINTEC) is a Public-Private Partnership in which 77% of the shareholding is held by the Government of Sri Lanka. SLINTEC has engaged in several research initiatives to develop Nanotechnology solutions for different projects of national significance and the scientists at SLINTEC have now succeeded in developing a process to produce Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) and Nano Titanium Dioxide (Nano TiO2) from Ilmenite obtained from Pulmoddai. Cabinet of Ministers decided that the Ceylon Mineral Sands Limited should endeavor to utilize the research findings of SLINTEC for value addition in mineral sands.
