Rehabilitation of National Highways with concrete surfacing through domestic contractors - Rehabilitation of Tennekumbura - Kandehandiya Road (20.4 km) and Kandehandiya - Randenigala Road (13.6 km)

- Cabinet approval has already been granted for the rehabilitation of 692.09 Km of Roads through domestic contractors by obtaining the required funds amounting to around US $500 million from Local Banks. The road section from Tennekumbura to Kandehandiya having a length of 20.40 Km. and Kandehandiya - Randenigala Road (13.60 km) are two of the roads approved for rehabilitation under the above programme. The proposal made by H.E. the President, in his capacity as the Minister of Ports and Highways to award the above contract, on the recommendation of the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee, at the negotiated contract sum of Rs.2,647,635,497.07, was approved by the Cabinet.
