Habarana - Veyangoda Transmission Line Project - Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA)

- the Government of Japan has agreed to provide a loan of Japanese Yen 9573 million (approximately Rs.13,402 million) through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for the construction of the 220 KV Transmission Line from Habarana to Veyangoda. The objective of the project is to improve the stability and reliability of the transmission system and to cater to the growing demand of electricity in the country. The proposal made by H. E. the President, in his capacity as the Minister of Finance and Planning, to enter into a loan agreement for the purpose with JICA, was approved by the Cabinet.
