Implementation of the Augmentation of Mahiyangana Water Supply Project

- this Water Supply Scheme is fed with water from the Mahaveli river. The Scheme at present provides water to the Mahiyangana town areas, the temple, hospital and surrounding areas. The proposal made by Hon. Dinesh Gunawardena, Minister of Water Supply and Drainage, on the recommendation of the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee, to award the above contract to a company in Austria for a sum of Euro 10,404,953 to be provided in the form of a loan through a Bank in Austria with provision of Rs.1036 million from the General Treasury and to be implemented during 2012 - 2014, was approved by the Cabinet.
