Matara Accelerated Urban Development Programme

- Matara Municipal Council area has been declared as an Urban Development Area under the Urban Development Authority. Accordingly, the following projects are to be implemented under this programme:

* Construction of a Convention Hall;
* Development of Nilwala Riverside Park; and,
* Development of Urban Forest.

The proposal made by H.E. the President, in his capacity as the Minister of Defence and Urban Development, to proceed with the above development work, with funds to be provided under the Medium Term Budgetary Framework 2012-2014. was approved by the Cabinet.
