Project for the Installation of Protection Systems for Unprotected Railway Level Crossings

- Cabinet approval has already been granted to install protection systems at 200 unprotected level crossings at a cost of Rs.1000 million and the bids received for the purpose are being evaluated. The proposal made by Hon. Kumara Welgama, Minister of Transport to install protection systems at level crossings in 2012, was approved by the Cabinet.
