Water Supply to Mahiyanganaya - Ridimaliyadda DS Areas - Project Proposal Submitted By Maschin-Uniwelptechnik-Transportanlagen Ges.m.b.H. Austria

- the Ministry of Water Supply and Drainage has received a proposal from Austria to finance the above water supply project under a soft loan sponsored by the Austrian Government. The initial project proposal covers the construction of Intakes Structures on Mahaweli River, Treatment Plant, Water Tower, Transmission and Distribution System in Mahiyanganaya and Ridimaliyadda Divisional Secretary Areas. About 30,300 people living in the areas would be benefited by this project. Hon. Dinesh Gunawardena, Minister of Water Supply and Drainage informed the Cabinet that the project could be commenced in 2012 on receipt of the recommendations of the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee.
