Grant Assistance of Euro 11,500,000 from the Government of Federal Republic of Germany

- the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany has agreed to provide grant assistance in a sum of Euro 11,500,000 for the implementation of the following development projects in the Northern and Eastern Provinces of Sri Lanka:

* Vocational Training Centre in the Northern Province - it is proposed to establish a complete Vocational Training Centre at Kilinochchi. This Centre will have a capacity of about 400 students and both short term and long term training programmes will be conducted in the fields of Metal Technology, Electronics, Automotive Sector, IT Sector, Agriculture and Food Security. In addition to the above grant, a loan of 3 million Euro from KfW of Germany, will also be obtained for the construction of building.
* Small and Medium Sector Development Project - this programme will include Textile, Agribusiness, Food and Beverages, Tourism related industry, Livestock etc.
* Performance Improvement Project for Development Actors in the Northern and Eastern Provinces - this project is focused on human resource development in the Northern and Eastern Provincial Councils and capacity development for local government institutions.
