Institute of Construction Training & Development (ICTAD) - Annual Report for the Year 2010
- the main objective of ICTAD is to promote the contribution of the construction industry in meeting national demand in development objectives. Currently nearly 2500 construction contractors are registered with ICTAD and this information is now available on the Web site. The Operator Training Unit provides training on construction equipment such as crawler tractors, loaders, excavators etc. The training programmes consist of institutional training and on-the-job training. During the year under review, ICTAD has conducted vocational training courses for early school leavers to help to solve the unemployment problem of the youth. This three year Basic Mechanical Training Programme is conducted in collaboration with the National Apprenticeship & Industrial Training Authority (NAITA). The above Annual Report submitted by Hon. Wimal Weerawansa, Minister of Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities, was approved for presentation in Parliament.
