Construction of a new building for the Institute of Fundamental Studies

- the principal mandate of this Institute is to initiate, promote and conduct research and investigations in fundamental studies in general with particular emphasis on mathematics, physical and chemical sciences, life sciences and philosophy. The proposal made by Hon. Pavithra Wanniarachchi, Minister of Technology and Research, for the construction of a new building for this Institute and to purchase necessary equipment at a total cost of Rs.2,00,000,000.00, was approved by the Cabinet. The initial work of the project will be commenced utilizing the financial provision allocated for construction work in 2012 and the balance will be completed with funds to be provided under the Medium Term Budgetary Framework 2013.
