Regional Bridge Project Phase - 2 with Financial assistance from United Kingdom

- there are over 4500 bridges on the National Highway Network in Sri Lanka and about 160 bridges have been identified for replacement with new bridges on a priority basis. Mabey Bridge Limited, UK is presently involved in the Regional Bridge Project implemented by the Road Development Authority with UK funding. The proposal made by H.E. the President, in his capacity as the Minister of Ports and Highways, to award the contract for the construction of single and two lane steel bridges throughout Sri Lanka, on the recommendation of the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee, to Mabey Bridge Limited, UK, at a cost of GBP 45 million, was approved by the Cabinet.
