Press briefing of Cabinet Decision taken on 2011-12-14

Project to construct a 350 meter high Multifunctional TV and Telecommunication Tower along with a Leisure Park in Colombo

- with the present rate of growth in the TV and Telecommunication Sectors in the country, Cabinet approval has already been granted to construct a multifunctional TV and Telecommunication Tower approximately 350 meters in height which could be used by 50 telecasting services, 10 telecommunication services and 50 radio broadcasting services. The proposal made by H.E. the President, to rename the project as "Colombo Lotus Tower Project" and to explore the possibility of shifting the project to a central tourist zone in Colombo with the view to proceed with the project, was approved by the Cabinet.
