- the National Institute of Business Management is presently functioning under the purview of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Skills Development as a statutory institution. It offers degrees approved by the University Grants Commission. In 2009, it followed methodologies such as opening on weekends and Government holidays in order to cater to the needs of the present labour market. In the same year, the productivity and management development sector earned Rs.132 million whereas it was Rs.96 million in the previous year. Besides the expansion of library facilities, the NIBM administration also took steps to establish two new Centres in Kurunegala and Kandy as Regional Centres. The proposal made by Hon. Dallas Alahapperuma, Minister of Youth Affairs and Skills Development to present the Annual Report of the National Institute of Business Management for the year 2009 in Parliament, was approved by the Cabinet.
