Strengthening District Administration to suit the necessity of the Government Development Programmes

- the proposal made by Hon. W.D.J. Seneviratne, Minister of Public Administration and Home Affairs, to present the Transfer of Powers (Special Provisions) Bill prepared by the Legal Draftsman, in Parliament, was discussed by the Cabinet. This Bill has been prepared to strengthen the District Administration to suit the requirements of the Government's Development Programmes. The provisions of this Bill will strengthen the hands of the District Secretaries in their role of giving guidance to Divisional Secretaries and supervising their activities.
