Procurement Process for Supply and Installation of Hydro Meteorological Information System - Dam Safety and Water Resources Planning Project

- Dam Safety and Water Resources Planning Project is implemented with the objective of establishing long term sustainable arrangements for operation and maintenance of large dams and improving water resources planning, which is funded by the World Bank. The project includes the following main components:

* Improvement of dam safety and operational efficiency; under this component, 32 major dams will be rehabilitated and basic safety facilities will be provided to a further 48 major dams;
* Modernization and improvement of hydro-meteorological information system; and,
* Multi-sector water resources planning which will produce a Master Plan and detailed river basin Management plans for Mahaweli and Mundeni Aru river basins.

The proposal made by Hon. Nimal Siripala de Silva, Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Management to follow the Two Stage Bidding Procurement Process to select a suitable contractor for the purpose, was approved by the Cabinet.
