Rehabilitation of National Highways with Concrete Surfacing through Local Contractors using Domestic Funds
- Cabinet approval has already been granted to rehabilitate 662.04 Km. of Roads with concrete surfacing through local contractors with funds obtained by the Road Development Authority amounting to around US $500 million from local Banks. The proposal made by H.E. the President in his capacity as the Minister of Ports and Highways to award the contract for the following, based on the recommendations of the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committees, was approved by the Cabinet:

* Item 23 - Rehabilitation of Ibbagamuwa - Kumbukgete - Madagalla Road (34.19 Km.) at a total cost of Rs.3,757,770,120.82;
* Item 24 - Rehabilitation of Section from Anuradhapura to Trincomalee (97.1 Km.) on Puttalam - Trincomalee Road at a total cost of Rs.12,822,293,843.60; and,
* Item 25 - Rehabilitation of Katuwana - Alupothdeniya - Panamure Road 23 Km. at a total cost of Rs.2,328,364,568.44.
