Acquisition of land and payment of compensation to the residents under the second phase of Hambantota Port Development Project

- lands required for the second phase of the Hambantota Port Development Project and the basic survey work pertaining to these lands have been finalized. The proposal made by H.E. the President, in his capacity as the Minister of Ports and Highways, for the appointment of a Committee of Officials to identify the occupants who are entitled for compensation in respect of the lands which are to be acquired for the second phase of the above project, with the concurrence of the District Secretary/Divisional Secretary, Hambantota and other relevant authorities, was approved by the Cabinet.
