United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Assistance Agreements on strengthened partnership for Social Integration and Increased and Equitable Economic Growth

- the Government of the United States of America has agreed to provide a grant assistance of US $14,738,236 through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to the Government of Sri Lanka for the above purpose. The main objectives of the above programmes are -

(i) increase private sector investment and enterprise development in lagging Provinces;
(ii) strengthen participatory governance at the local authority level; and
(iii) improve delivery of legal services and enhance the public engagement in the legal process.

The proposal made by H.E. the President in his capacity as the Minister of Finance and Planning, to sign the Agreements and implement the above programmes, was approved by the Cabinet.
