China Development Bank Corporation Funded Priority Roads Project - Phase II - Award of six (06) Nos. civil works contracts

- in terms of a Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Government of Sri Lanka with the China Development Bank Corporation, US$ 500 million has been provided by the Chinese Bank to finance road projects. 13 contracts amounting to approximately US$ 330 million have already been awarded. The proposal made by H.E. the President, in his capacity as the Minister of Ports and Highways to award further 6 contracts utilizing the balance amount of US170 million available in the credit facility provided by the Chinese Bank, was approved by the Cabinet. They include rehabilitation and improvement of the following:

* Thihagoda - Kamburupitiya - Mawarala - Kotapola Road (23.00 - 67.00 km);
* roads in the Nuwara Eliya District some of which are:

Padiyapelella - Elamulla Road (0.00 - 2.82 km);
Poramadulla - Pallebowala Road (0.00 - 9.60 km);
Nildandahinna - Galkadawala - Theripehe Road (0.00 - 16 km);
Rasingolla - Thiripehe Road (0.00 - 10.80 km);

* Tennekumbura - Rikilagaskada - Ragala Road (20.20 - 73.64 km);
* Bibile - Uraniya - Mahiyangana Road ( 22.00 - 39.58 km);
* Hungama - Middeniya Road ( 0.00 - 30.00 km); and,
* Nagoda - Kalawallewa - Bellapitiya Road (27.00 - 57.00 km).
