Hosting of the 20th Session of FAO/IGG on Tea and the International Tea Convention by Sri Lanka

- the proposal made by Hon. Mahinda Samarasinghe, Minister of Plantation Industries to host the above Session by Sri Lanka during the period from 29th January 03rd February, 2012 and to obtain a budgetary allocation of Rs.10 million for the purpose from the General Treasury, was approved by the Cabinet. This Convention held biannually is considered as the only forum for member nations to deliberate on their issues relating to production, marketing and consumption of tea as a food item.
