Allocation of Land Blocks to set up Industries in Regional Industrial Estates

- Regional Industrialization Strategy of the Government is aimed at to develop industrial activities at the regional level to encourage utilization of local raw materials and human resources. Towards these objectives, 24 Industrial Estates have been established and most of the land plots have been allocated to potential investors. Over 271 industrial units are now in commercial operation and 46 are under construction. The proposal made by Hon. Rishad Bathiuddeen, Minister of Industry and Commerce to allocate blocks of land from the relevant Industrial Estates to another 26 potential investors whose requests have been duly evaluated, was approved by the Cabinet.
