Press briefing of Cabinet Decision taken on 2011-09-28

Sri Lanka Expo to be held during 28th - 30th March 2012 at BMICH, Colombo

- the proposal made by Hon. Rishad Bathiudeen, Minister of Industry and Commerce, to hold the "Sri Lanka Expo", an International Trade Exhibition from 28th - 30th March 2012 at BMICH, Colombo, in collaboration with the public sector stakeholders and the active participation of the Trade Chambers, was approved by the Cabinet. The main objective of this event is to promote Sri Lanka's Export products and services among overseas buyers, in addition to the promotion of investment and tourism sectors. Around 300 local exporters and export companies are expected to participate in this exhibition. Cabinet Sub-Committee chaired by Hon. (Dr.) Sarath L.B. Amunugama, Minister (Senior) for International Monetary Co-operation and comprising of Hon. Basil Rajapaksa, Minister of Economic Development, Hon. (Prof.) G.L. Peiris, Minister of External Affairs and other relevant Ministers, is to co-ordinate and monitor the activities relating to the organization of the event.
