National Housing Development Authority Annual Reports for the Year 2007/2008

- with the intention of providing housing facilities for the people living in rural,urban,estate areas as well as in the Northern and Eastern Provinces, action has been taken by the NHDA to implement housing programmes throughout the country, obtaining assistance at rural,divisional and district levels. Some of the programmes implemented by NHDA are -

* Gama Neguma Housing Programme - the main objective of this programme is to provide permanent houses for low income families in 20 districts.
* Estate Housing Programme - the objective of this programme is to replace the line room with houses with basic facilities for the estate community in 13 districts.
* Northern Province Housing Development Programme - this programme has been implemented in Mannar, Vavuniya, Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu Districts to assist the families who are displaced but not been benefited from other housing programmes.
* Fisheries Housing Programme - this programme has been implemented in Kalutara, Ampara, Batticaloa and Trincomalee Districts.
