Implementation of Regional Development Initiatives on Fast Track Basis with wider participation of Contractors

- the proposal made by Hon. Basil Rajapaksa, Minister of Economic Development, to provide more opportunities to the private sector to participate in Regional Development activities implemented by the Government, was approved by the Cabinet. Under this scheme, contractors nominated by the Chamber of Construction Industries and Contractors Association of Sri Lanka, complying with ICTAD regulations and standards and maintain good track records and short listed within the District/Province could submit quotations for identified work. This will also provide competitive bidding between the public and private sector construction companies.
