Annual Report of the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation (SPC) for the year 2009

- SPC is the sole importer of healthcare items to the Medical Supplies Division of the Ministry of Health, which in turn supply these items to all government hospitals. It has the largest distribution network covering the entire island, including the North and the East. During the year 2009, SPC has recorded the highest turnover of Rs.13,321 million, which is an increase of 8.8 million as against the previous year. The turnover in the open market during the year has been Rs.3,331 million as against the 2008 turnover of Rs.2,934 million. Profit after tax from the open market operation was Rs.318 million in 2009 as against Rs.362 million in 2011. The above report submitted by Hon. Maithripala Sirisena, Minister of Health, was approved by the Cabinet for presentation in Parliament.
