Progress on Paddy Purchasing Programme in 2011 Yala Season

- Cabinet noted the progress of the programme of purchasing paddy in the Yala Season 2011, presented by Hon. Jonston Fernando, Minister of Co-operatives and Internal Trade, giving the following details totaling to 5889 MT. as at 23.08.2011:

* Polonnaruwa Region - 1181 MT
* North Western Region - 206 MT
* Ampara Region - 971 MT
* Anuradhapura Region - 436 MT
* Southern Region - 3009 MT
* Northern Region - 78 MT

The Paddy Marketing Board expects to purchase 75,000 MT. of paddy during the 2011 Yala Season.
