Taking Over of District General Hospital, Chilaw to the Central Government

- this is the main hospital administered by the North Western Provincial Council and located in the Puttalam District. It serves the population of Puttalam District and also the patients from other areas, such as, Mannar, Anuradhapura and Kurunegala Districts. In keeping with the government policy of developing at least one hospital in each District, on a proposal made by Hon. Maithripala Sirisena, Minister of Health, Cabinet approval was granted to take over this hospital by the Central Government, at the request of the Provincial Council, with the objective of providing better and efficient healthcare services to the people in the Puttalam District and surrounding areas.
