Amendments to the Institute of Fundamental Studies, Sri Lanka Act No. 55 of 1981

- the objective of this Institute is to create an interest in and to provide facilities for fundamental and advanced studies. The proposal by Hon. Pavithra Wanniarahchi, Minister of Technology and Research to prepare draft legislation to enable his Institute to collaborate with relevant other institutes such as the Industry Technology Institute, The National Engineering Research and Development Centre and the Arthur C. Clarke Institute for Modern Technologies, to develop applications relevant to studies that it conducts and to rename the Institute as the National Institute of Fundamental Studies, was approved by the Cabinet.
