Establishment of the Department of Divi Neguma Combined Rural Development

- the proposal made by Hon. Basil Rajapaksa, Minister of Economic Development,, to amalgamate the institutions such as the Department of Samurdhi Commissioner General, Sri Lanka Samurdhi Authority, Department of Upcountry Peasantry Rehabilitation, Sri Lanka Udarata Development Authority and the Sri Lanka Southern Development Authority to form a new Department called the Department of Divi Neguma Combined Rural Development, to accelerate the development activities of the government, was approved by the Cabinet. Three Regional Offices, such as the Northern Regional Office, Upcountry Regional Office and the Southern Regional Office are to be set up for the purpose.
