New Homeopathy Bill

- the proposal made by Hon. Salinda Dissanayake, Minister of Indigenous Medicine to repeal the existing Homeopathy Act which was enacted in 1970 and to present a new Bill for the purpose prepared by the Legal Draftsman, was approved by the Cabinet. The new Bill will provide the following:

* regulate and control the practice of Homeopathic medicine;
* promote and encourage the study, research in and practice of Homeopathic medicine;
* establish and maintain a Homeopathic Medical College;
* develop or encourage measures for the investigation and treatment of diseases with a view to improve public health; and
* regulate and control institutions providing treatment and control of the manufacture, importation, sale and distribution of Homeopathic drugs.
