Construction of the Railway Line from Pallai to KKS with assistance of the EXIM Bank of India

- construction work of the Northern Railway Line from Vavuniya to Omanthai has already been completed and trains are being operated up to Omanthai at present. Construction of the railway line from Omanthai to Pallai has been awarded to M/s. Indian Railway Construction International Ltd. (IRCON) which is a fully government owned company of India. The proposal made by H.E. the President to handover the construction of the balance part of the railway line from Pallai to KKS to the same Indian company (IRCON) at a cost of US$ 149.3 million, was approved by the Cabinet.
