Beliatta Town Development Project

- Beliatta town in the Hambantota District has been identified to be developed under this programme. The main objective of this programme is to support the Local Authorities to provide basic urban facilities to the people more efficiently and effectively. Beliatta town is a regional centre for collecting and marketing agricultural produce and it has access to many towns in the Hambantota District. The proposal made by Hon. A.L.M. Athaulla, Minister of Local Government and Provincial Councils, to construct a building complex for providing urban services, a playground, children's park, a vehicle park, a pleasure park and also to develop the Ampitiya Wewa and alternate access roads to the town and to assign the implementation of the project to the Sri Lanka Land Reclamation and Development Corporation, was approved by the Cabinet.
