Installation of Protection Systems at unprotected Level Crossings

- the existing Railway Network in Sri Lanka has about 915 level crossings, among which 303 crossings have been installed with protection system and there are 612 crossings with no protection systems. The proposal made by Hon. Kumara Welgama, Minister of Transport, to provide protection systems to 200 of the remaining level crossings at a cost of Rs.1000 million through calling for open competitive bidding, was approved by the Cabinet.
