Strengthening of Regional Industrial Estate Development Programme

- under this programme 25 industrial estates have been set up and 273 industrial units have been established. The total extent of land developed for the purpose is around 720 acres, providing direct employment opportunities to around 13000. Joint proposals made by the Hon. Basil Rajapaksa, Minister of Economic Development; Hon. Abdul Rishad Badiudeen, Minister of Industry and Commerce; and Hon. Janaka Bandara Tennakoon, Minister of Lands and Land Development, for making lease arrangements, providing infrastructure facilities and credit facilities to these industrial estates were approved by the Cabinet.
