Press briefing of Cabinet Decision taken on 2011-05-25

Hosting of the 50th Annual Session of the Asian African Legal Consultative Organization (AALCO)

- this organization was established in 1956 and Sri Lanka was a founder member of this organization which provides a platform for member states to find common solutions in various fields of international law that would mutually benefit the member countries. Presently 47 countries, comprising all most all major states from Asia and Africa are members of this organization. Sri Lanka is to hold the 50th Annual Session to be held from June 26th to July 01st 2011. About 250 delegates from Asia and Africa are expected to attend the conference which will be inaugurated by H.E. the President. The proposal made by Hon. Rauff Hakeem, Minister of Justice to proceed with the work pertaining to this conference was approved by the Cabinet.
