Revitalization and Enhancement of the Sustainability of the National Programme on Development of Rural Industries and Production Villages
- this programme focuses mainly on rural areas and assists to improve the standard of living of the rural masses contributing effectively to the economic and social advancement of the regions. This was launched in 2005 to cover a period of 05 years up to 2009. During this period 256 projects have been carried out in 256 rural industrial villages throughout the country, costing Rs.544.51 Million and the number of beneficiaries has been 14271. The proposal made by Hon. Douglas Devananda, Minister of Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development to strengthen this project at a cost of Rs.26.5 Million in 2011, was approved by the Cabinet.
