Appointment of Officials to the Tax Appeals Commission

- with the enactment of the Tax Appeals Commission Act No.23 of 2011, an independent Tribunal will be setup for hearing of all appeals in respect of matters relating to imposition of any tax, levy or duty. The following will be members of the Commission:

* Justice Hector Yapa - former Judge of the Supreme Court;
* Mr. M. Somasundaram - former Director of the Departments of National Budget and Public Enterprises; and
* Mr. P.A. Pematillake - former Auditor General.

Mr. K.A.P. Kaluarachchi, Deputy Commissioner General of the Inland Revenue Department will function as the Secretary to the Commission.
