Establishment of Sri Lanka Development Officers? Service and Sri Lanka Development Assistants? Service and the recruitment of officers for those services

- it has been decided to establish the above two services in the Public Service with the view to provide assistance in the implementation of the development activities of the Government. This is a proposal made by H.E. the President, in keeping with the budget proposals 2011. This programme will pave the way for the recruitment of unemployed Graduates and the youth who have successfully completed the G.C.E. (O./L.) Examination and sat the G.C.E. (A./L.) Examination, as Trainees. According to this programme, 15,000 suitable Graduates are to be recruited as Development Officers and another 15,000 G.C.E. (O./L.) qualified youth who have sat the G.C.E. (A./L.) Examination will be recruited as Development Assistants. Recruitments are to be made with effect from 01st August 2011. Cabinet approval was granted to proceed with the programme.
