Press briefing of Cabinet Decision taken on 2011-03-30

Order made under the Payment Devices Frauds Act No. 30 of 2006

- This Act which was passed by Parliament in 2006, has introduced provisions to counteract the high incidence of payment card frauds and for investigation, prosecution and punishment of offenders. Provisions under this Act provides powers for the Minister in charge of the subject to make regulations with the approval of Parliament, to appoint a Panel of Experts with qualifications in electronic engineering or software engineering to assist the police in investigations under this Act. The proposal made by H.E. the President to present such regulations in Parliament was approved by the Cabinet.
