Southern Transport Development Project (STDP) Supply and Installation of Fibre Optic Cable
- the Southern Expressway of 126 Km. is being constructed as an Access Controlled Toll Expressway from Kottawa to Godagama (Matara). Access would be provided only through 11 interchanges located at Kottawa, Kahatuduwa, Gelanigama, Dodangoda, Welipenna, Kurundugahahetekma, Nayapamula, Pinnaduwa, Imaduwa, Weligama and Godagama. A Fiber Optic Cable has to be installed through a total length of 131 Km. along the entire length of the Expressway in order to communicate information between the interchanges and the Toll Offices for toll operation. On a proposal made by H.E. the President, on the recommendation of the Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee and the Technical Committee, Cabinet approval was granted to award the contract to Sri Lanka Telecom Limited.
