Improvement of Forecasting Capabilities of the Department of Meteorology

- in view of the frequent and intense weather related disasters experienced in the country, accurate and timely provision of weather forecasts and early warning services have become extremely important and on a proposal made by Hon. Mahinda Amaraweera, Minister of Disaster Management, Cabinet approval was granted for the improvement of capabilities of the Department of Meteorology through a feasibility study and a technical assistance programme with foreign funds to be negotiated by the Department of External Resources.
