Implementation of effective and well targeted District Development Plans

- On a proposal made by Hon. W.D.J. Seneviratne, Minister of Public Administration and Home Affairs, the Ministry has prepared a methodology for the preparation of District Development Plans to be implemented effectively through District Secretariats. This will pave the way to utilize District/Divisional mechanism in order to achieve expected development targets at the level of each Divisional, District and at National level, with the political leadership in the District taking the lead role. Cabinet approval was granted for the implementation of the above with the coordination of the Ministry of Economic Development and the Ministry of Finance and Planning. The purpose is to ensure the efficiency of service delivery and also to expedite implementation of development activities in the District.
