Press briefing of Cabinet Decision taken on 2011-02-15

Development of Embilipitiya Paper Mills; Kantale Sugar Industries and Ceylon Ceramics Corporation on Long-Term Lease Basis

- based on the recommendations of an Officials' Committee and on a proposal made by Hon. Dayashritha Tissera, Minister of State Resources and Enterprise Development, plans are being prepared for the development of the above institutions on long-term lease basis and to find investors for the purpose. Until such time this work is finalized, Cabinet approval was granted to provide funds by the General Treasury in the following manner for the payment of salaries to the employees:
* Embilipitiya Paper Mills - from January to June 2011 at the rate of 4.3 million per month;
* Kantale Sugar Industries - from January to June 2011 at the rate of 01 million per month; and
* Ceylon Ceramics Corporation- from January to June 2011 at the rate of 09 million per month.
