Press briefing of Cabinet Decision taken on 2011-02-15

Fifteenth Session of the Indian Ocean Tuna Commission from 14 to 22 March 2011

- the Indian Ocean Tuna Commission (IOTC) is an Inter-governmental Organization mandated to manage tuna and tuna like species in the Indian Ocean and adjacent seas and Sri Lanka is one of the Members of this Commission. On a proposal made by the Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development, Hon. (Dr.) Rajitha Senaratne, the fifteenth Session of the IOTC will be held in Sri Lanka from 14th to 22nd March 2011. This will take place in Colombo with the participation of 200 members from IOTC Member countries. The financial cost will be met from the IOTC and Sri Lanka will provide other facilities for the event. Cabinet approval was granted for same.
