Press briefing of Cabinet Decision taken on 2011-02-15

Bill to incorporate the institute of Applied Statistics, Sri Lanka

- on a proposal made by Hon. Pavithra Wanniarachchi, Minister of Technology and Research, Cabinet approval was granted to present the Institute of Applied Statistics, Sri Lanka (Incorporation) Bill, prepared by the Legal Draftsman to be presented in Parliament. The main objective of this Bill are as follows:
* promote and assist the advancement of Applied Statistics for the furtherance of research, development, education, training etc.;
* undertake the preparation and publication of useful information pertaining to Applied Statistics by means of Seminars, Lectures and Articles to be published to foster the training of Research Workers;
* undertake research work in this field; and
* co-operative with governmental and non-governmental organizations and national and international institutes pertaining to activities in this field.
