Project for Improvement of Cartoon Production Facilities at the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC)

- On the initiative of H.E. the President, the Government of Japan has agreed to provide a grant of Japanese Yen 41,700,000 (approximately Rs.54 million) for the above project through the Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA). Under this project, a new 3D Animation Studio is to be established which will enable SLRC to produce 2D and 3D cartoon programmes and new TV programmes, thereby raising the quality of cartoon production in Sri Lanka to international standards. The project will be implemented by the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation, under the supervision of the Ministry of Mass Media and Information. Cabinet approval was granted to sign the Exchange of Notes with the Government of Japan and enter into a Grant Agreement with JICA.
