Census of Population and Housing - 2011 to cover the entire Island after 30 years - Department of Census and Statistics

- On the basis of a Memorandum submitted by H.E. the President, Cabinet approval has already been granted to hold the 14th Census of Population and Housing in the year 2011 and the Director General of Census and Statistics has been directed to make necessary arrangements for same. The main feature and importance of this census is that it will be the first time since the census of population and housing held in 1981, that a census is being held to cover the entire Island, including the Northern and Eastern Provinces after 30 years. Modern technology is to be utilized for the compilation of data for the first time and Cabinet approval was granted for same.
